All about yarn is a lecture delving into the numerous facets of yarn. Learn about animal, cellulose, and synthetic fiber characteristics, processing, spinning and plying techniques, and the unique traits of finished yarns. Jamess design practice is heavily informed by his understanding of materials and he brings the knowledge of an experienced pattern designer and hand spinner into this talk. Expand your vocabulary for yarns and fibers and gain new perspectives you can use to choose the best materials for your next project.

James N Watts is a knitwear designer, classical musician, and jeweler in Chicago, Illinois. Jamess interest in the fiber arts started in childhood when he asked his mother to teach him to crochet. Jamess first hit-pattern, Best Beret, was published in 2019, and he has continued designing ever since. His design sensibility is inspired by materials, texture, technique, and color, and he specializes in size-inclusive garments and accessories for all climates and seasons. Outside of his knitting practice, James crochets, weaves, spins, and sews. All of James’s knitting patterns can be found on Ravelry and JamesNWatts.com.
